How to install Skype on Lubuntu 17.10

Skype is a very popular chat and video call app owned by microsoft, you might be thinking that you probably won't be able to use skype on lubuntu, but you are wrong, you can install skype on lubuntu and use it for video call just like on windows. In this article i will show you how to install skype on lubuntu 17.10 artful.

How to install Skype on Lubuntu 17.10
  • go to skype for linux download page 
  • download the debian package (skypeforlinux-64.deb)
  • open command line/terminal (press CTRL + ALT + T)
  • go to ~/Downloads folder, assuming the skypeforlinux-64.deb is located there
  • cd ~/Downloads/
  • install skype for linux
  • sudo dpkg -i skypeforlinux-64.deb
  • skype for linux is ready to use!

Once installed you can find skype from lubuntu start menu > Internet > Skype for Linux Beta. By the time i wrote this article, the latest version of skype is version 5.5, which is way behind the windows version, but still pretty much useable, and also the emoticon seems to be up to date to the web version.
