In this article i will show you how to connect to Wi-Fi network on lubuntu, this is a beginner tutorial, so if you are already know, please ignore this. This article i dedicated for my friend jenna who asked me about this.
Okay, to connect to Wi-Fi network on lubuntu is actually very easy, all you have to do is turn on/enable your Wi-Fi card (some laptop have this feature) and then look at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Next to the clock panel applet, you should be able to see the network indicator applet, left click on that and then you should see list of available SSID under the Wi-Fi network section.
SSID is the name of the Wi-Fi network that you are going to use, let's say you can't find the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect, all you need to do is click on "connect to Hidden Wi-Fi network...".
And then fill the network name, select the Wi-Fi security, if you don't know it's probably "WPA & WPA2 Personal", so choose that (if wrong you can choose again later), enter the Wi-Fi password and hit "Connect".
If you have succesfuly connect to one or more Wi-Fi network, lubuntu will remember it so next time you don't have to type again when connecting to the Wi-Fi network.
I don't know if my explaination is help or not, but i hope so, anyway take a look at the screenshot images, it might help you better understanding of what i said.
~ cheers ~
What applet are you using there? I've tried installing networkmanager and I run nm-applet, and I don't have any of the options that you have. I'm running Lubuntu 16.10. I only have a set of arrows (up/down) and a wifi little arc thing. Nothing else. Clicking on either of them brings up the Network Connections dialogue
