If you are someone who love working with words, like maybe you are a writer or something, perhaps having a dictionary is going to help you a lot. Why not have an english dictionary program on your computer? In this article i will show you how to install an english dictionary program on lubuntu.
I found this very nice english dictionary program called wordnet browser version 3.0, this dictionary program is available on the official repository of ubuntu/lubuntu, so you can install it for free. Here's how to install it.
How to install WordNet Browser (english dictionary program) on Lubuntu
- open command line/terminal/console (press CTRL + ALT + T)
- run update command
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wordnet
Once installed you can open wordnet from lubuntu start menu > Education > WordNet. The user interface of wordnet is very simple, easy to understand, all you need is enter the word you are looking and hit enter to see the result.
I believe wordnet does not required internet connection meaning it's an offline dictionary program, so you can use it even without internet and that's really great.
