How to install VLC media player on Lubuntu


Lubuntu 15.10 wily werewolf, comes with built in video player called Gnome MPlayer, if that player doesn't enough, you can install another video player which is VLC the best movie player i ever use. So in this article i will show you how to install VLC player on lubuntu.

Alright, let's get started, first open up terminal/console/command prompt on your lubuntu (press CTRL + ALT + T) and then run this command to install VLC player.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc

Note that the package of VLC player is quite big, around 94,6 MB of disk space, so make sure you have good internet connection to download the package.

Once installed, you can find VLC media player from lubuntu start menu > Sound & Video > VLC media player.

  1. trying to install vlc in lubuntu 16.04 lts...tried sudo apt-get etc, all I got was Unable to locate package vlc...this is what drives me crazy about linux and those who have websites like yours
