How to play Wii and Gamecube games on Lubuntu


If you want to play nintendo wii games or gamecube games but don't have the machine (game console), why not use emulator on your computer. In this article i will show you how to play nintendo wii and gamecube games on lubuntu.

On lubuntu there is emulator for both nintendo wii and gamecube, called dolphin emulator or dolphin emu. Dolphin emu is an open source project and available as part of lubuntu/ubuntu repository.

To install dolphin emulator, simply open your terminal/command line, and then run apt-get install command, like this:

sudo apt-get install dolphin-emu

Once installed you can find dolphin emulator from the lubuntu start menu > Games > Dolphin Emulator.


You will need nintendo wii or gamecube game image (ISO), you can download somewhere from internet, just search on google 'download wii ISO' or 'download gamecube ISO', you will get plenty results.

Emulating nintendo wii and gamecube requires more processing power than emulating SNES machine, so make sure your computer have enough processing power, old computer probably won't be able to run this emulator, but who knows.
