How to install google chrome on Lubuntu 15.10


In this article i will show you guy's how to install google chrome web browser on lubuntu 15.10 wily werewolf. Lubuntu 15.10 comes with firefox as the default web browser, so if you want to use google chrome you have to manually install. 

To install google chrome on lubuntu 15.10 is actually very easy to do, all you have to do is download the debian installer package of google chrome browser from google website and then install it on your lubuntu.

Step by step how to install google chrome on lubuntu 15.10 wily werewolf
  • Download google chrome installer (debian package .deb) from google website, make sure it match your operating system type, if you have 64 bit lubuntu then download the 64 bit installer, but if you have 32 bit lubuntu download the 32 bit installer.

  • 64 bit installer
    google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

    32 bit installer
    google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb

  • Open terminal/console and then install font-liberation package (needed for google chrome)

  • sudo apt-get install fonts-liberation

  • Next install google chrome itself using dpkg -i command, like this:

  • sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb
    or
    sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

  • Done, now you can browse the web using google chrome.
If you don't like installing using command line, you can actually do double click on the google chrome installer (the .deb) and use the GUI to install google chrome.
