How to install Live Wallpaper on Lubuntu 16.04

Are you bored with your static wallpaper? have you tried live wallpaper? it's a wallpaper that has animation, in this article i will show you how to install live wallpaper on lubuntu 16.04.

By default lubuntu doesn't support live wallpaper, you can only have static wallpaper, but with the help of this cool program we can have our own live wallpaper.

The program that i'm talking about is called LiveWallpaper, obviously, and this program currently not available on lubuntu/ubuntu repository, but there is a PPA repo that we can use.

Step by step how to install LiveWallpaper on lubuntu 16.04

• add the PPA repository for LiveWallpaper

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fyrmir/livewallpaper-daily

• update your local repo list

sudo apt-get update

• install the LiveWallpaper itself (along with the config and indicator)

sudo apt-get install livewallpaper livewallpaper-config livewallpaper-indicator

• finish, now you can see new icon on your indicator applet, look for 'LiveWallpaper Settings...', if you can't find it, run this command instead:

livewallpaper-config

• enable the live wallpaper and choose one of the effect, see what happens...

LiveWallpaper have six different wallpaper effect; circles, galaxy, gradient clock, nexus, noise and photoslide. You can switch between one effect to another from the livewallpaper-config or from the livewallpaper-indicator applet.

You can find the livewallpaper indicator applet on the bottom right of your lubuntu dekstop, next to the wifi or network indicator applet. If you don't see the livewallpaper indicator it's probably not loaded, maybe you can restart your computer.

By default all six live wallpaper effect comes with it's own background, but you can actually change the background with your own image/pictures. You can do this from the live wallpaper config, click on background tab, choose custom image and then change the background image.

Live wallpaper is fully customize, you can add your own photo like example above, and each wallpaper effect has it's own setting that you can change whatever your like.
