Even though lubuntu 16.10 is not using LXQt desktop, you still can have LXQt desktop if you want, and using LXQt desktop on lubuntu 16.10 is much simpler than using it on lubuntu 16.04.
Unlike lubuntu 16.04, on lubuntu 16.10 when you install LXQt desktop, your original lubuntu desktop is not going to be removed, it still available as an options on the login screen, so you can switch back and fort between LXQt desktop and the standard LXDE desktop.
To install LXQt desktop on lubuntu 16.10 yakkety yak is also much simpler, all you need is install the lxqt package and that's it, you are good to go.
sudo apt-get install lxqt
After install, you need to logout or even better, reboot your computer, and then on the login screen, look at the top right corner of the screen, you will see the 'LXQt desktop' option, choose that if you want to use the LXQt desktop otherwise use 'Lubuntu'.
The LXQt version is the same on both lubuntu 16.10 and lubuntu 16.04
